Sohoho and a Bottle of Rum - Or Anything Else You Might Want Dear Sir, Soho Has it All

Whispered, the name Soho slips sexily from the lips and ends with a breathy tease. Connotations and images that come to mind are bold and bright, punk and camp, sexy and edgy, rock and roll. Soho has a reputation for pushing the boundaries and mixing all social classes, lifestyles and backgrounds together in a truly multi-cultural smorgasbord.

If Soho were a person, it would be a mixture of Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse, Groucho Marx and Salman Rushdie, eclectic to say the least.

Living in London's Soho gives you an element of boho mystery and its reputation for cool attracts tourists from all over the globe. Given the prime West End location Soho attracts many artistic and literary types. Actors especially favour the iconic bars and clubs that are situated within the region, one of the most famous being the Groucho Club on Dean Street. Here you can find jewels of London's rebellious pack such as Kate Moss and Lilly Allen, along side Damien Hirst and Peter Saville.

Soho is very busy at the weekends and at one time its cobbled streets were closed off to cars. Businesses in the area demanded that this ban was lifted because they argued that this was affecting trade so it was re-opened to traffic. Even now, some weekends get so busy that the streets have to be closed of to traffic on occasional nights.

If you're not a member of the exclusive Groucho don't fret, there are plenty of other places that you can enjoy. Check out Admiral Duncan if you're out to spend a pink pound or Antique Garage restaurant if you want an authentic Soho bite to eat before you explore the district. The restaurant really does seem like you are dining in an antique collector's rather large hippy living room.
Café Lazeez has excellent reviews with its relaxed atmosphere and the so does Michelin star restaurant Arbutus located on Frith Street near Soho square.

Soho has a mix of modern cocktail bars, traditional feeling (and smelling) pubs and bustling clubs full of lots of different types of people. As Soho is well known for attracting more 'alternative' connoisseurs it provides an antidote to London's Sloany Pony side. No one is excluded in Soho's inclusive atmosphere and you are sure not to be looked at twice even if you're dancing style resemblance to a Gummi Bear overdosed on Gummiberry Juice.

Want to see England in a day? Visit Soho in a night.
